"Put the author back in authority"
I like this quote. It's talking about finding your voice and not writing in someone else's. It was part of an article entitled '25 Things Writers Should Stop Doing to Themselves', found while cruising the internet and I wanted to elaborate as it relates to a conversation I had this morning.
Talking with my friend Chris today involved an integration that nearly knocked me out. It cut so deep it made my eyes hurt, and my body want to curl up on the couch and sleep, letting it all absorb into my subconscious and my conscious.
On top of finding my voice, it's about finding who I truly am as a person...and embrace being that girl. Why? Because you cheat others of finding out who they're dealing with, and how to partake in the responsibility of getting to know you. Every time I have an integration, it feels like it's the most obvious thing in the world. It seems so simple! But obviously not... otherwise it wouldn't be running my life like this would it?
If I'm acting the way I think someone wants me to be, and doing everything I think they want, then all I'm doing is mirroring them. I'm not letting them learn from me. I take that away from them. They're only getting this fake persona who tries to cover up any authentic qualities that could otherwise help the other person see themselves in a different way rather than what they 'want'. Controlling the whole world.
Find your authenticity, your author, your authority to say "I am going to be 100% me, in all it's imperfections and glory"
These are the things that keep me up at night. That feeling is back in my eyes, and it's about to knock me out all over again....
More people need to be reminded of this.
ReplyDeleteHmm, wow, thank you...though I wish I knew who you were 'anonymous' ;) I appreciate your willingness to share, and in fact I was happy to re-read this after so long, to remind myself! Again! hahah
